The Painting Center is pleased to announce a Gallery Talk by Art Historian Vittorio Colaizzi. Professor Colaizzi will speak on the work of Robert Ryman in relation to contemporary abstract painting.
Vittorio Colaizzi holds an M.F.A. in painting and a PhD in art history from Virginia Commonwealth University. His essays and reviews have appeared in Art Papers, Smithsonian’s American Art, And Woman’s Art Journal. He is currently at work on a critical anthology and a monograph on Robert Ryman. Vittorio Colaizzi is an Assistant Professor of Art History at Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota.
Professor Colaizzi is the author of the catalogue essay for Placing Color, currently on view at The Painting Center, as well as the article Two Kinds of Thickness in Abstract Painting featured on The Painting Center Blog. He curated the exhibition Building Picturing at The Painting Center in June 2007.
